Brad Doty

Brad Doty has built a career rooted in public service, with extensive experience in both law enforcement and local government. He began his professional path in law enforcement more than 29 years ago, serving with the Lewis County and Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Offices before joining the Idaho State Police. Over the course of his career, Doty held positions as patrol sergeant, lieutenant, alcohol beverage control bureau chief, northern area commander, and later rose to the rank of Major. His work included managing complex investigations, overseeing personnel, and leading operational divisions across the state.

Doty’s leadership training includes graduating from Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command, a program focused on organizational leadership and fiscal responsibility. His background reflects a long-standing commitment to public safety and effective management.

In 2021, voters elected Doty to the Caldwell City Council. He currently serves as Council President, where his responsibilities include working with fellow council members and the mayor to set policy, oversee city operations, and manage growth in one of Idaho’s fastest-growing communities. His priorities on the council have included maintaining strong public safety services, ensuring responsible use of taxpayer dollars, and balancing community amenities with infrastructure needs.

Doty’s combined experience in city government and law enforcement provides him with a perspective on both day-to-day operations and long-term planning for Caldwell.
