The Bannock County Republican Party is the official governing body of the Republican Party in Bannock County, home to Pocatello and Idaho State University in southeast Idaho. Bannock County is one of Idaho’s more competitive political environments: Pocatello’s university population (ISU enrolls approximately 12,000 students), significant blue-collar workforce in the region’s phosphate mining and agricultural industries, and an organized local Democratic Party create a more contested electorate than most rural Idaho counties. The Republican committee actively works to recruit strong candidates and build voter registration and turnout in Districts 28 and 29, which cover the Pocatello area. The committee coordinates with the Idaho Republican Party on statewide races and works alongside the House and Senate caucus campaign committees to maintain and expand Republican representation in Bannock County.
