About

The Bonneville County Republican Party is the official governing body of the Republican Party in Bonneville County, centered on Idaho Falls — eastern Idaho's largest city and one of the state's most reliably conservative population centers. With approximately 130,000 residents, Bonneville County produces significant Republican vote margins that frequently prove decisive in statewide elections. The county's economy is anchored by the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) — a Department of Energy research facility employing approximately 6,000 scientists, engineers, and support staff in nuclear energy and national security research — alongside agriculture, healthcare, and a growing service sector. Bonneville County's large Latter-day Saint population contributes to its deeply conservative political culture, with high rates of civic participation and family-values orientation. The committee coordinates candidate recruitment, voter outreach, and campaign support for Idaho Falls-area legislative districts (Districts 32, 33 and 35) and local Bonneville County offices.

Michael Colson is chairman of the Bonneville County Republican Central Committee. He was elected chairman in June 2024, succeeding Nick Contos, according to East Idaho News, and the committee's officer list shows him as chairman after the committee's May 28, 2026 reorganization meeting.
