About Idaho Republican Party

The Idaho Republican Party (IDGOP) is the dominant political party in Idaho, controlling the governorship under Brad Little, both U.S. Senate seats held by Mike Crapo and Jim Risch, all U.S. House seats, and supermajorities in both the Idaho House (56+ of 70 seats) and Idaho Senate (28+ of 35 seats). Founded in the 1860s, the party has shifted significantly rightward since 2010, reflecting the influence of grassroots activist movements on its primary electorate. The party platform, adopted at biennial conventions, reflects the priorities of its engaged precinct committeeman base. The party’s governance in Boise is led by a mainstream Republican leadership team in both the House (Speaker Mike Moyle) and Senate (Pro Tem Kelly Anthon), whose focus on budget management and economic policy has shaped Idaho’s legislative agenda through the 2020s. Idaho Republicans have not lost a statewide election since 1994.
