About John Birch Society

The John Birch Society was founded in 1958 by former candy salesman, Robert Welch Jr. The John Birch Society (JBS) uses divisive rhetoric and conspiracy theories to excite a base of followers who are encouraged to run for local offices around the country in the name of fighting communism. This group is connected to many of the anti-vaccine, anti-mask, and anti-CRT messaging spread around the state. Multiple members of the Idaho House of Representatives are JBS members and also devoted followers of the Idaho Freedom Foundation.
