Tom Hearn has lived in Idaho since 1976 and Kootenai County since 1981. He worked for Health and Welfare in child welfare services for 9 years and then owned a private mental health clinic in Coeur d’Alene from 1986 until he retired in 2013. He is married with 2 children and 4 grandchildren. He has been elected to the Coeur d’Alene School Board and appointed to the Kootenai School Board. He also has been on a number of state and local boards including appointments by Democratic and Republican governors. He is currently running for State Senate in Idaho’s Second District.

His goals are to be an advocate for rural communities, a voice for public education including higher education, medical and mental health services, protection of public lands, roads and rural economic development.

Hart, who is in his first term in the Idaho Senate, and has previously served four terms in the Idaho House, is registered at an address in Kellogg. He is running for reelection in the Nov. 5 general election against challenger Tom Hearn, a Saint Maries Democrat.
