About

The Idaho County Republican Central Committee is the official governing body of the Republican Party in Idaho County, one of the largest counties by land area in the contiguous United States at approximately 8,500 square miles — larger than the combined states of Connecticut and Rhode Island — with its county seat in Grangeville. The committee coordinates Republican party operations across this vast, sparsely populated county in north-central Idaho, where timber, ranching, agriculture, and outdoor recreation industries form the economic backbone. Idaho County is among the most heavily Republican counties in the state, consistently producing Republican margins exceeding 80% in federal and statewide races. The county's enormous federal land footprint — including the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness (the largest wilderness area in the lower 48 states) and portions of the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest — makes federal land management a central local political issue. The committee recruits and supports Republican candidates for District 7 legislative seats and local county offices.
