About

Melaleuca: The Wellness Company is Idaho's largest e-commerce company and one of the state's most significant private employers, headquartered at 4609 West 65th South in Idaho Falls with major facilities in Rexburg. Founded in 1985 by Frank VanderSloot, Melaleuca has grown to serve millions of customers in 20 countries, offering more than 400 eco-friendly wellness, personal care, home care, nutrition, and baby care products manufactured at its Idaho facilities. The company employs approximately 2,500 Idahoans and sustains nearly 7% of jobs in Bonneville, Jefferson, and Madison Counties, making it Idaho's fifth-largest private employer. Melaleuca's Consumer Direct Marketing model allows customers to purchase directly from the company and earn commissions by referring others — the company has paid more than $7.5 billion to families for product referrals. Through the Melaleuca Foundation, the company partners with the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, and local food banks, and hosts the annual Melaleuca Freedom Celebration — the largest fireworks show west of the Mississippi — honoring veterans and military families. Melaleuca played a pivotal role in passing Idaho's Patient Act, protecting patients from unfair medical billing practices. Founder Frank VanderSloot has been a prominent public advocate on Idaho water rights issues, particularly regarding the Snake River Plain Aquifer. The company has received numerous accolades including Forbes' "Best Employers in America" designation and the Idaho Business Review's Empowering Women Award.

Local Gov. Little signs Idaho Patient Act into law

Gov. Brad Little signed the Idaho Patient Act Monday alongside the bill’s sponsors, Sen. Kelly Anthon (R-Burley) and Rep. Jason Monks (R-Nampa). The Idaho Senate sent the legislation to the governor’s desk with a vote of 32-1 earlier this month after the House approved the bill with a 49-20 vote. “I am thrilled that these bad actors are going to be stopped from their egregious actions of turning medical debts into attorney bills,” Melaleuca CEO Frank VanderSloot said. “My only regret is that the law doesn’t go into effect until January 1. I fear that these bad actors will step up their unethical activities until they are forced to stop.”
