About

The Professional Firefighters of Idaho (PFFI) is a labor organization representing career firefighters and emergency medical personnel at departments throughout Idaho. As an affiliate of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), PFFI advocates for safe working conditions, fair compensation, adequate staffing, and firefighter pension protections at the Idaho Legislature and in local government negotiations. The organization's political action committee supports candidates who back collective bargaining rights for public safety workers, oppose privatization of fire services, and support funding for public safety infrastructure. PFFI is a consistent participant in Idaho's labor movement coalition, often working alongside the AFL-CIO and other public employee unions. Idaho's fire service faces growing pressures from wildfire risk — Idaho ranked among the top ten states for annual burned acreage in most recent years — making firefighter staffing and compensation issues particularly salient in legislative debates. The Professional Firefighters PAC contributes in both Democratic and Republican primaries to candidates who demonstrate support for working firefighters regardless of party.
