About

Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) is a libertarian-leaning student activism organization founded in 2008 in the aftermath of Rep. Ron Paul's presidential campaign, when campus chapters of "Students for Ron Paul" reorganized under the YAL banner. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, YAL establishes chapters on high school and college campuses to "advance liberty on campus and in American electoral politics." YAL is directly relevant to Idaho politics through its former president, Cliff Maloney, who was removed from YAL leadership in January 2021 following serious allegations of sexual misconduct toward YAL employees. Maloney subsequently founded Citizens Alliance of America — the national parent organization of Citizens Alliance of Idaho — and Mobilize the Message LLC, a Fort Walton Beach, Florida canvassing firm. CAI's PAC paid Mobilize the Message over $446,000 for door-to-door canvassing in Idaho legislative districts, and both organizations have been documented as part of a funding chain traced to POM of Pennsylvania, LLC — a skill-based gaming machine manufacturer under Pennsylvania attorney general enforcement action. In Idaho, YAL partnered with Magic Valley Liberty Alliance on canvassing in Magic Valley legislative districts in the 2024 primary cycle.
