Clint Hostetler is a first-term Republican member of the Idaho House of Representatives representing District 24 Seat A, covering portions of Twin Falls and the Magic Valley. Hostetler took office December 1, 2024 and is seeking re-election in the May 19, 2026 Republican primary. The general election is November 3, 2026.
Background
Hostetler is a Twin Falls resident who arrived in Idaho from California before the 2024 cycle. Per his Idaho State Legislature profile, he serves on the House Education committee. He is a documented chemtrails-conspiracy adopter who has used his official social-media account to repost videos of jet contrails as evidence of government chemical-spraying programs and who authored a 2025 House Memorial opposing geoengineering, per Political Potatoes.
Political Career
Hostetler took office on December 1, 2024 as a first-cycle freshman. His first bill as a freshman was House Bill 1 (2025), a universal refundable tax credit of $9,500 per student for private-school tuition, with a $250 million annual fiscal-note cap. Per Magic Valley News and Idaho Education News, the bill allowed credits for "any other expense reasonably related to K-12 academic instruction" and forbade state oversight of nonpublic schools taking the credits. On January 27, 2025 the Idaho House passed House Joint Memorial 1 46—24, which asks the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn its 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges decision; Hostetler voted yes and spoke in support. Per Boise State Public Radio and KTVB, he told the chamber, "Marriage is between a man and a woman."
Policy Positions
Hostetler's stated priorities include private-school choice, opposition to same-sex marriage, and opposition to geoengineering. Per Political Potatoes' June 7, 2025 coverage, he has publicly embraced the "Christian Nationalist" label. He voted against House Bill 445 (2025), the water-stewardship bill funding Magic Valley aquifer recharge for irrigated agriculture; per the Times-News editorial board column of April 19, 2025, he was named among Magic Valley legislators who voted against the bill.
Political Alignment
Hostetler is Idaho Freedom Foundation-aligned and was a member of the 2024 Magic Valley Liberty Alliance candidate slate alongside Sen. Glenneda Zuiderveld, Sen. Joshua Kohl, and Rep. David Leavitt. Per Political Potatoes' February 14, 2025 reporting, he attended the 2024 Young Americans for Liberty National Convention with Zuiderveld, Kohl, Leavitt, and Sen. Christy Zito. A $881 federal tax lien was filed against Hostetler in November 2025 while he was sitting in office.
Campaign and Endorsements
Hostetler is running in the May 19, 2026 Republican primary. Per the Idaho Sunshine portal, his 2026 campaign is supported by approximately $634 in independent expenditures from Idaho Summit PAC, with approximately $2,867 in opposition expenditures from WinAg PAC. Idaho EdNews has reported that Citizens Alliance of Idaho PAC, which supported his 2024 campaign, draws substantial out-of-state funding, including a $450,000 transfer from a Virginia-based federal affiliate and Pennsylvania gaming-related sources. His 2024 campaign also received support from Young Americans for Liberty's Make Liberty Win field operation. A separate Idaho EdNews report lists Hostetler among 20 candidates supported by Rep. Jordan Redman's 36-18-1 Inc. PAC, seeded with $250,000 of personal money. The general election is November 3, 2026.
