Erin Bingham

Idaho House of Representatives, District 32 Seat B
Erin Bingham is a Republican state representative from Idaho Falls, currently serving her first term in the Idaho House of Representatives for District 32 Seat B. The district covers Idaho Falls and portions of Bonneville County. Governor Brad Little appointed Bingham on January 9, 2026 to fill the vacancy created by Rep. Wendy Horman's departure. She faces Brian McKellar in the May 19, 2026 Republican primary.
Background
Bingham lives on seven acres south of Idaho Falls in Bonneville County with her husband Val and their four children. She is the Chief Financial Officer of Bingham Ventures, a family-operated development company, and works as a small-business owner and accountant. Her appointment to the legislature followed a list of nominees submitted by Bonneville County Republicans to the Governor's office. Before her appointment, she spent years volunteering at her children's schools and serving in leadership roles in parent-teacher organizations and neighborhood groups around Idaho Falls.
Political Career
Bingham assumed office on January 10, 2026, when she was sworn in to complete the term of Rep. Wendy Horman. She reports that during her first session there were 486 votes and she voted with the Republican majority approximately 92 percent of the time. Among her notable votes, she opposed Senate Bill 1300, which shifted authority to appoint agency directors — including the Director of Fish and Game — from governing boards to the Governor. In a public explanation she told constituents: "The governor already appoints the board. If the governor then also appoints the director, we have lost an important layer of checks and balances. That structure exists for a reason. Beyond the governance concern, the risk to Harriman State Park was too great." She is also listed in connection with H0542 (Stop Harms from Addictive Social Media Act), signed into law during her first session.
Policy Positions
Bingham's campaign platform identifies fiscal responsibility, education, housing and healthcare access, and constituent communication as her four main priorities. On the budget she writes: "As an accountant and small business owner, Erin brings real-world financial accountability to the Legislature. Idaho must pass a balanced budget. No exceptions. No gimmicks. Core services like education, roads, and public safety come first." She supports stable, predictable funding for District 32 public schools, removing regulatory barriers to housing construction so families can afford to live where they were raised, and protecting Medicaid for Idahoans who depend on it while pursuing sustainable long-term solutions. She emphasizes reading every bill and voting based on what is right for District 32.
Political Alignment
Bingham presents as a pragmatic Republican focused on Bonneville County. She was appointed by Governor Brad Little after Bonneville County Republicans submitted her name. Per Idaho Sunshine 2026 contribution data, her donor coalition includes the Idaho Credit Union League PAC, Professional Firefighters of Idaho, Amalgamated Sugar Company PAC, and the Idaho House Republican Caucus. The Raybould family of St. Anthony — former Rep. Britt Raybould along with Vickie and Jeff Raybould — contributed $1,000 each.
Campaign and Endorsements
Bingham is seeking her first full term in the May 19, 2026 Republican primary against Brian McKellar. Per Idaho Sunshine, her committee has raised approximately $67,270 from 104 donors, with $20,070 self-funded. Documented PAC support includes the Idaho Credit Union League PAC, Professional Firefighters of Idaho, Amalgamated Sugar Company PAC, and the Idaho House Republican Caucus. She and McKellar participated in an April 28, 2026 candidate forum hosted by East Idaho News and the Greater Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce. The general election is November 3, 2026.
