Jim Addis 52.2 percent to 47.8 percent in the Republican primary, then winning the general election with approximately 63.5 percent; he was re-elected unopposed in the 2024 Republican primary and won the 2024 general with approximately 65.5 percent. Background
Alfieri, 73-74, graduated New Utrecht High School in Brooklyn, New York in 1970. He attended Lehman College (CUNY) studying art and art history (no degree) and earned a certificate in web design from Silicon Valley College in 1997-1998. He moved to the Coeur d'Alene area in approximately 2013 from the San Francisco Bay Area, as described on his campaign website. His pre-legislative career spanned marketing, sales, graphic arts, typography, advertising, corporate training (including stints with EDS and GM), and business ownership; he owned a boutique advertising agency in Emeryville, California serving the Apple peripherals market and opened what he describes as the first retail computer store (ComputerLand) in New York City in 1980. He is married to Caroline (whose family has deep Idaho roots), with two sons, three step-daughters, and five grandchildren in Post Falls. He is Catholic.
Political Career
Alfieri's political activation came from opposition to the 2020 Coeur d'Alene mask mandate. In Coeur d'Alene he served as chairman of the Chamber of Commerce membership committee and on the Coeur d'Alene Economic Development Council / Jobs Plus Action committee. He ran unsuccessfully for Coeur d'Alene mayor in 2021 before running for the legislature in 2022, defeating then-incumbent Rep. Jim Addis in the Republican primary, per Ballotpedia. He serves as Vice Chair of the House Judiciary, Rules, and Administration Committee and on Local Government and House State Affairs.
Policy Positions
Alfieri's legislative record concentrates on election integrity, tax cuts, parental rights, and what he calls protecting children from "oversexualization." Ben Toews. Idaho Capital Sun has reported on his sponsorship of HB 720 (2026), which would require cities of more than 25,000 residents to elect city council members by district instead of at-large. He voted against the late-session Ada County Highway District partisan-elections bill in the 2026 State Affairs Committee alongside Rep. Stephanie Mickelsen, per BoiseDev coverage. From the Kootenai County GOP candidate questionnaire: "The purpose of government is to protect the freedom and God given rights of people," and "The rights of the people are God given, and secured by the Constitution."

Alfieri is a documented member of the Idaho Freedom Caucus, which he describes on the Kootenai County GOP candidate questionnaire as "the conservative center of gravity in Idaho." The Idaho Freedom Foundation Freedom Index has scored him at approximately 82.6 percent (B-) on Freedom and 79.1 percent (C+) on Spending.
