"With less than two hours left to file, College of Southern Idaho trustee Anna Scholes declared her candidacy for Senate in District 24 as an independent candidate." Scholes was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, to immigrant parents, according to her biography on the College of Southern Idaho Board of Trustees page. She attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy and then spent 10 years in sales and marketing for Eli Lilly & Company. In 1997 she moved to Idaho with her husband, Chris Scholes, a Twin Falls native. She works part-time as a community pharmacist and as an adjunct pharmacology instructor at CSI.

Her elected role is on the college's governing board. CSI's five trustees are elected at large from Twin Falls and Jerome Counties to staggered four-year terms. Scholes was elected to the board in 2018 from Zone 1, and her term runs through 2026.
