Born in Melvin, Texas, Damian D. Rodriguez's parents moved to the area in the 1950s as migrant farmers, settling in Burley, Idaho. His mother pursued nursing, while his father worked in agriculture. During summers, Damian worked as a migrant laborer, both locally and in neighboring states. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant with service in Vietnam and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

With support from the G.I. Bill, Damian earned degrees in Health Care Management, Journalism, and Counseling and Human Services. He is fluent in English and Spanish. Professionally, he has held roles in journalism and vocational rehabilitation, finding fulfillment in assisting individuals with disabilities.
