Greg Pruett

Greg Pruett is a well-documented political propagandist who has spent years gaslighting Idahoans under the guise of defending the Second Amendment. As the head of the Idaho Second Amendment Alliance (ISAA), Pruett has built a career on misleading rhetoric, astroturfing fake grassroots movements, and pushing a far-right agenda alongside the Idaho Freedom Foundation (IFF). Pruett is not a Republican, as he abandoned the party to be the vice-chair of Idaho’s Constitution Party.

A One-Man Fake News Machine

Pruett has been directly tied to some of the worst fake news and propaganda operations in Idaho politics. He operates or has been involved with a sprawling network of dishonest websites, including:

• Idaho Dispatch – An IFF-aligned “news” website that disguises far-right propaganda as journalism.
• Keep Idaho Free – Another Pruett-led operation pushing misinformation and fearmongering.
• NW Gun News – A gun rights disinformation site promoting extremism.
• Freedom Bros Podcast – A failed attempt to build an “influencer” brand based on radical right-wing narratives.

None of these so-called “news” or “activist” sites are legitimate grassroots movements. They are thinly veiled grifts designed to exploit Idaho conservatives, line Pruett’s pockets, and maintain his influence over low-information voters.

Exposed by National Media

Pruett’s fraudulent tactics were exposed by NPR’s Pulitzer Prize-winning podcast “No Compromise”, which documented how he and his associates manipulate gun rights rhetoric for personal gain. The investigation revealed that Pruett was part of a national network of extremists who weaponize fear to drive donations and spread falsehoods.

Additionally, Pruett’s ties to the Dorr Brothers, infamous for running gun rights grifts across the country, further expose his true nature. The Dorr Brothers have been accused of misleading donors, running deceptive fundraising campaigns, and using gun rights advocacy as a money-making racket.

Working Hand-in-Hand with the Idaho Freedom Foundation

Pruett doesn’t operate in a vacuum. He works closely with the Idaho Freedom Foundation, an out-of-state-funded dark money group that backs extremist candidates and dismantles Idaho’s public institutions. He parrots IFF talking points, promotes their hand-picked candidates, and uses his fake news platforms to smear anyone who challenges their power.

This relationship is mutually beneficial: IFF provides the funding and infrastructure, and Pruett provides the propaganda and social media reach. Together, they manipulate Idaho politics through lies, fearmongering, and personal attacks on their enemies.

A Track Record of Failure

Despite his loud online presence, nearly everything Greg Pruett touches eventually fails. His fake news sites struggle to gain credibility, his political influence remains limited to the fringe, and his repeated attempts to create a national brand have fallen flat. Idahoans are increasingly seeing through his lies and recognizing him for what he truly is: a political grifter masquerading as a political activist.
