About Idaho State AFL-CIO PAC

The Idaho State AFL-CIO, led by President Joe Maloney, is a federation of labor unions representing workers across construction, service industries, healthcare, manufacturing, and public employment throughout Idaho. The AFL-CIO’s political action committee engages in Idaho elections by endorsing and financially supporting candidates who champion workers’ rights, fair wages, workplace safety protections, and collective bargaining. As a core component of the Idaho Democratic Party coalition, the AFL-CIO PAC mobilizes union members as voters and campaign volunteers, particularly in legislative races in Bannock, Nez Perce, and Ada Counties where labor has historically performed strongest. Idaho’s union membership rate is among the lowest in the nation at approximately 6-7% of the workforce, but the organization remains an important voice for Idaho workers on minimum wage, workplace safety, and employee benefits policy. The AFL-CIO coordinates with allied organizations including the IEA and United Vision for Idaho on shared legislative priorities.
