Kamber Weninger won the May 19, 2026 Democratic primary for Idaho House District 32 Seat B without opposition, receiving 442 votes, according to certified Idaho Secretary of State results. She faces Republican incumbent Rep. Erin Bingham in the November 3, 2026 general election. This is Weninger's first campaign for public office; Idaho Secretary of State records show no prior electoral history under her name.

Background

Weninger describes herself on her campaign website as "a first-generation Idahoan, born and raised in Idaho Falls," who has "lived in the district which she wishes to represent, for over 35 years." Her two sons attended schools in Bonneville School District 93, where she also substitute taught, giving her a view of both general and special-education classrooms. She earned a bachelor's degree in Art and a master's degree in Training and Development through Idaho State University.

She worked for nearly 11 years as a U.S. Census Field Representative, a job that took her throughout Idaho collecting the data used to hold lawmakers accountable for program budgets. She left that position through a voluntary separation during federal Department of Government Efficiency-driven cuts. Weninger and her family have received Medicaid and Women's Health Program benefits, which she cites as informing her views on the importance of those programs for families without employer-provided benefits.

Stated Positions

Weninger's campaign website lists four guiding principles: "1) If you are sick or in need, you should be shown compassion, 2) if you enjoy freedom; you should respect another's sovereignty, 3) if you want justice, you should stand up against injustice and 4) if you want to teach and lead others, do so with accountability and humility." Her stated platform focuses on securing affordable housing, protecting public education funding, sustaining key healthcare programs, and preserving families and safe communities.

In a candidate questionnaire published by Idahonews.com, Weninger wrote that her top priority is "to protect voting rights and see what I can do about fair taxation," citing tax inequities between wage earners and corporations, healthcare and education funding, and infrastructure planning. On representing constituents, she wrote: "First and foremost; I will listen. I am a thoughtful person and I do have a pretty good knack for integrating ideas and problem solving." On the legislature's biggest unaddressed issue: "The economy does better when the community as a whole does better. Fairness in taxation and accountability." On budget shortfalls: "Setting early budget requirements and projections will be a must along with an efficient timely review." Asked why voters should support her, she wrote: "I will know who I work for; the people. Neither politician or businessperson has more value over the other, meaning they will not sway my vote while in office due to money or power."

Weninger's 2026 campaign finance filings with the Idaho Secretary of State's Sunshine portal show a beginning cash balance of $1,733.90, total contributions of $3,636.97, and $2,182.75 in loans, against total expenditures of $3,585.82. The campaign ended the period with $2,233.90 on hand and $2,182.75 in outstanding debt.
